My name is Kailey Rhoades. It was kind of an accident how I originally got into Border Collies-inheriting my first one, Riika, from a relative who realized Riika would be better suited for our farm than his house on the outskirts of town. Before I knew anything about breeding, and very little about Border Collies or dogs in general, Riika went into heat and was bred by some neighbor dog. Sadly, when the pups were 5 weeks old, she died in a horrific accident. I ended up keeping one of the pups, a male named Duke, and he was the dog that taught me almost everything I know about training now-except stockwork, as he didn't inherit any of his mom's working ability. I've been addicted to this special breed ever since.
I work in construction by day, and live and breathe dogs in my spare time. I love the dogs, and love working with them, both as a companion in stockwork, and working on tricks and amateur movies. (Enjoy some of those below!) |
